Stevensville, MD – 2009 has represented another busy year for Entertainment Management Group. The highly-regarded installation and service company in the Ride Entertainment group of companies, EMG continues to stay busy with projects across the globe.
The company signed a partnership in the spring with Velocity Magnetics, Inc., of New Castle, Pennsylvania. Velocity Magnetics is considered to be the amusement industry’s leader in motion control systems. EMG now has the exclusive rights to sell magnetic brake retrofit packages for any roller coaster, flat ride, or water ride. Bill Wright, Entertainment Management Group’s Director of Technical Services, said, “We are very happy to be working with Domenic Marzano and his team at Velocity Magnetics. They offer unique concepts in motion control technology and we look forward to installing their systems worldwide. With innovative concepts like a retrofit package for ‘Boomerang’ coasters and a magnetic pinch brake they are ahead of the curve when it comes to design and fabrication.”
EMG has also stayed busy this year with rehab and installation projects. Two notable ones are the erection of an S&S Worldwide El Loco coaster in the United Kingdom, and a Slingshot refurbishment done in conjunction with Funtime of Austria. “Both were great projects for us,” said Wright. “The Slingshot was completed in a short amount of time and sent to Six Flags New England. After that I got on a plane and headed to England to set up S&S’s second El Loco roller coaster, which the park dubbed ‘Mumbo Jumbo’”.
Wright mentioned that the company’s organic growth has been spurred on by word of mouth. He said, “We spent the past several years building a reputation as one of the go-to companies in the industry and had the pleasure to work with groups like Six Flags, Triple Five, the Roller Coaster at New York, New York, and even the City of Detroit. Now that manufacturers, parks and zoos know our capabilities they have begun sole-sourcing their projects to us, which is the highest compliment we can receive.”
