At the IAAPA Attractions Expo in November of 2007 in Orlando, FL, USA, Ride Entertainment Systems was officially appointed as the North American strategic development partner with HIT Entertainment. Under this agreement, Ride Entertainment will manage the sale, design, sourcing and manufacturing of ride systems for all of HIT’s brands for use in amusement venues in North America of all types and sizes. Thomas and Friends and Bob the Builder are among HIT’s most successful brands- both lending themselves perfectly to the creation of beautifully themed children’s areas that focus on fun, exploration, and interactivity.
2007 saw the introduction of the first Thomas Town areas in the USA at Six Flags New England (Agawam, MA) and Six Flags Discovery Kingdom (Vallejo, CA). 2008 will see the debut of two additional Thomas Towns at Six Flags Over Georgia (Austell, GA) and Six Flags Magic Mountain (Valencia, CA). Each Thomas Town has its own unique feel and attraction mix, and are all anchored by the classic Thomas train ride.
2008 will also see the debut of Thomas Land at Drayton Manor located in Drayton Bassett, Staffordshire, UK. This new 6 acre area will feature 10 rides and attractions, merchandise, and food/beverage spread out amongst 8 distinct areas. Kids will have the opportunity to take a Thomas train ride, drop in on Cranky, coast with Troublesome Trucks, soar with Harold, and fly with Jeremy. The new area represents nearly a $10 million US investment and will be the largest Thomas themed area in the world upon its opening.
Ride Entertainment will work closely with HIT’s brand, marketing and design teams to ensure brand integrity and quality control, while representing to the market a customizable “one stop” solution for all customers. This newest division of Ride Entertainment adds yet another dimension to the comprehensive portfolio already possessed by the amusement industry’s leader in providing rides, attractions, and entertainment for all ages.
