January 14, 2010
It was our intent to start this year off with a bang and we have certainly done that. As shown on our Projects page, we have a lot of activity happening worldwide. Some, not all, of Ride Entertainment’s 2011 projects are listed here; we will put more up as we can announce them.
We started the year off right by announcing the re-signing of our agreement with CBS Consumer Products. With a collection of timeless brands like “Survivor”, “CSI”, “Star Trek”, and many others, we just need to decide what the best branding fit will be. Is it a “Survivor”-themed ropes course or a Euro-Fighter anchoring a “Star Trek” land? Only time will tell.
One ride that everybody is talking about is the “Texas Giant”. We will be on site this spring for commissioning of what looks to be one of the most unique coaster projects in the world. You can see some of the latest construction pictures at the park’s website, where they show off the construction cam, as well as new photos of the vehicles, the lift and control system. We are looking forward to seeing these vehicles roll across that track soon.
Some of our other great rides this year include a pair of Euro-Fighters going into Six Flags over Georgia and Canobie Lake Park. “Dare Devil Dive” and “Untamed” are both coming along nicely. As you can see to the right, during a recent visit to Canobie we saw the ground being cleared and leveled in preparation for this base frame ride. We can’t reveal details, but we can say that the park has some great plans for this coaster and it will be the best-themed Euro-Fighter 320+ in the world. Speaking of theming, the folks at Georgia have some tricks up their sleeves as well. The Six Flags crew have made this Euro-Fighter look like an aerobatic barnstormer, you can see the video at the park’s website . While this coaster has some stiff competition with world-class rides in the park like “Goliath” and the classic Schwarzkopf “Mindbender”, we think that DDD, with the steepest drop in the park, will again push the limits and offer a once-in-a-lifetime ride experience. Fabrication on both of these rides is coming along nicely, you can see the Georgia coaster track being bent to the right.
As we posted on our Facebook page, fabrication for the “Sky Screamer” StarFlyers for Six Flags St. Louis and Six Flags Discovery Kingdom will be finished soon. Some of the ride parts have been shipped and, as the parks showed in their videos, these rides will be icons at these properties. We look forward to sharing some pictures of these rides as they are erected throughout the spring.
Stay tuned to our website and social media pages as we will have photos, videos, and much more showing our ride portfolio get installed, tested, and treat the first screaming guests to rides all spring long. It is going to be a great 2011 and we look forward to sharing it with you.
