Ropes Courses Open at Indiana Beach and The West Edmonton Mall

This spring two very different facilities opened custom SkyTrail® Ropes Courses.  The West Edmonton Mall in Edmonton, Canada and Indiana Beach in Monticello, Indiana both had differing needs, but a common desire to offer guests an interactive experience.  They turned to Ropes Courses, Inc. (RCI), of Allegan, Michigan in order to add something unique.

The West Edmonton Mall is the largest in North America.  There, the goal was to install an attraction in an atrium surrounded by escalators and capped by a skylight.  RCI designed a ropes course with 39 elements that filled an otherwise empty space in the facility.  The end result was a blue and gray course that offered guests an experience unlike anything else at the retail giant. When the course opened on June 19, shoppers on escalators stared in amazement as the brave traversed custom elements on a course that stands over 40 feet in the air.

Southeast of Alberta the team at Indiana Beach was busy readying an entirely new section of the park, Adventure Point, which opened on June 10.  One of the area’s anchors is a horseshoe-shaped SkyTrail® painted green and yellow.  It stands at the southern end of the pier, next to the park’s Giant Wheel.  With 40 elements the course offers enough options so that no two trips high above the boardwalk park will be the same.  The course is a fantastic part of Adventure Point and allows Indiana Beach to truly give their guests something different.

“The courses at Indiana Beach and the West Edmonton Mall were great projects for us,” said Jim Liggett, Owner of Ropes Courses, Inc.  “They really demonstrated how the SkyTrail® Ropes Course concept works at many different types of facilities.  Both of these installations were custom designed for the clients and show just how versatile the SkyTrail® system can be.  I am thrilled with how our product continues to grow, both in the overall quality and the number of locations around the world.”
