Pre-Flight Preparations Start Here
Those brave enough to experience the world’s most thrilling amusement attraction are first admitted to the Flight Suiting area where each rider is personally in their suit and given pre-flight instructions. They are then escorted to the loading platform for attachment to the flight cables. These cables are attached to the structure and capable of supporting over 4052 kg (9000 lbs) each, which means that up to three flyers can ride at the same time.
Not for the Faint of Heart!
The flyers are pulled aloft by a cable attached to the Launch Tower. Once the flyers are near the top of the Launch Tower, the flight is ready to begin. The famous “3-2-1 FLY!” command is given and a flyer pulls a ripcord attached to a release mechanism, which begins the free fall swing that carries them near the ground. The initial free fall accelerates the flyers to nearly 112 km/h (70 mph) as they pass just above the ground, creating a huge rush of excitement. After the flyers swing back and forth in a pendulum motion (approximately 6 to 8 times) the ride slows so they can safely be brought to a stop.
Time to Catch Your Breath
After their exhilarating experience, the flyers are disconnected from the cables and are escorted back to the flight suit area where the suits are removed. Exhilarated from their Skycoaster® experience, riders are offered the opportunity to take a memento home with them to remember their one-of-a-kind adventure. From Skycoaster® branded shirts to flight photos and videos that are guaranteed to be shared with friends on social media, opportunities abound for flyers to commemorate their own personal Skycoaster® experience.
