New Attraction Triples Capacity of Funtime’s Exciting Slingshot
St. Petersburg, Russia – An unique scream maker has been thrilling riders at the rapidly growing Divo Ostrov park in beautiful St. Petersburg. The company contracted with Funtime of Austria to open the world’s first Triple Slingshot during the summer of 2006. Since it debuted lines full of anxious riders have stretched throughout the park.
The park’s most exciting ride is the towering Triple Sling. The attraction differs from the traditional Funtime ride because it uses three towers that accommodate three capsules holding two people each. Two of the ride’s three launching area’s utilize Funtime’s Volcano theme to send guests soaring into the stratosphere.
Funtime’s Brian Mirfin said, “We are particularly pleased with the success of the Triple Slingshot. This application demonstrates a new use our patented spring-launching technology and allows parks to achieve a high capacity on an upcharge-style attraction. We are already talking to several parks about adding the Triple Slingshot to their thrill ride arsenal.”
The concept’s success lies in its simplicity. Only three towers are required to catapult excited riders into the air. In the middle sit the three spring machines. Their location allows for easy maintenance access and a great backdrop for the launch. In addition to the Triple Slingshot Divo Ostrov also purchased a StarFlyer and Vomatraon.
